Trucksters receives the CincoDías Award for the most innovative start-up of 2021

Trucksters receives the CincoDías Award for the most innovative start-up of 2021. This acknowledgment, now in its 14th edition, has become a benchmark and a key event in the entrepreneurial industry. The innovative relay trucking system based on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data used by Trucksters as a leading freight transport service operator deserved the highest distinction from the jury.

Innovation to solve real problems

Luis Bardají, CEO of Trucksters, received the CincoDías Award from Rafael Herrador, area director of CaixaBank in Madrid. “Innovation can be found in numerous ways, but it should always solve real problems. It has to have a reason. And in our case, it solves a real problem, which is to improve people’s quality of life. This award is paramount to us because it has an
essential component, which is none other than external recognition of what start-ups can achieve”, said Bardají.

The jury for the awards, to which more than a hundred entries were submitted, was composed of Helena Herrero, president of HP; Béatrice de Clermont, from the executive committee of Kayrros; Carina Szpilka, president of Adigital, Mónica Vázquez, founder of MV Executive Search; and the director of CincoDías, José Antonio Vega.

The First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for the Economy and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, gave the opening speech at the CincoDías Awards, which took place at CaixaBank’s ‘All in one’ center in Madrid.

The other four distinctions granted to figures and projects for their disruptive ideas were awarded to Cruzcampo Foundation; Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca, led by the consortium of Enagás and Acciona, which is currently developing a project to decarbonize the Balearic Islands; Sensia Solutions and Carlota Pi, co-founder and executive president of Holaluz, who in this case received the award for the most innovative leadership.

Bringing the best ideas forward

“These last two years have neutralized some entrepreneurial initiatives, but they have also stimulated many others which required the haste that comes with necessity in order to pursue the best ideas”, stated José Antonio Vega, director of CincoDías.

María Río, vice-president of Gilead, was in charge of closing the awards ceremony. “There have been so many new developments in the technological field these last few years that it seems to have lost its ability to surprise us; the same has happened in the healthcare industry”, she stated.

Río compared the short time it took to find a cure for the coronavirus with the time needed to deal with HIV: “From the time the first case of AIDS was detected, two years had passed before the virus could be characterized. In contrast, from the time the first patient was diagnosed in Wuhan, it only took a matter of days to have the entire genetic makeup of the SARS-CoV-2 virus available online”.

The Cinco Días Awards for Business Innovation —whose latest edition surpassed all previous editions in terms of the total number of projects presented— featured a closing cocktail party with the participation of organizers and institutional representatives, as well as members of the jury and award winners.
